What does “Sjuzhet” mean?

Fabula refers to the chronological sequence of events in a narrative; Sjuzhet( pronounced s-yu-zhet) is the re-presentation of those eventsĀ (through narration, metaphor, camera angles, the re-ordering of the temporal sequence, and so on). The distinction is equivalent to that between story and discourse, and was used as a term by the Russian Formalists, an influential group of structuralists.
